From generation to generation a particular martial art was rarely shared with other cultures. Hawaii has always been known as a melting pot of cultures. During the early sugar plantation days people from Japan, Korea, Philippines, China, and all over Asia came to Hawaii to work. Men at first then families followed. With them came there culture. Food, music, religion, dress, life style, and their particular martial art. Karate, Judo, Jujitsu from Japan and Korean Tang So Do, Kung Fu from China, Muay Thai from Thailand. Although there is history if mixed martial arts, Pankration events, the different styles of wrestling in Classical Greece, French Brancaille and some intermingling in Asia. It can be said that in the early 1900’s
Hawaiian Mixed Martial Arts was born.
